  • effectively reduces light pollution in the dark
  • high quality optical glass
  • double-sided nano-coating
  • prevents reflections
  • water, oil and dirt repellent
  • neutral behavior in the IR light range

Scientific celestial telescopes are located on islands or in sparsely populated regions for a reason. The steadily increasing light radiation from cities and urban areas, also known as light smog or light pollution, makes the observation and photography of stars or other celestial objects enormously difficult. However, the unpleasant haze also interferes with "normal" night shots and city panoramas. DSLR and DSLM photographers can now use the new Rollei Astroklar Night Light Filter to reduce the effects of light pollution. The artificial light sources that cause the most light pollution are sodium vapor lamps (light wavelength approx. 590 nm) and mercury vapor lamps (light wavelengths 545 nm and 580 nm). Among other things, these wavelengths block our night light filters and thus make it possible to take pictures of starry skies and night shots without a yellow cast - even in large cities and their surrounding areas.

Less light smog, more detail and clarity
Thanks to a special coating, the yellow and orange light waves that are largely responsible for the disturbing light haze are removed from the light. Above all, not only images of the night sky and stars gain significantly in contrast and clarity, but also in nighttime city photography, the advantages of this high-quality special rectangular filter, which is available immediately in both 150mm and 100mm widths, become apparent. In architectural or long exposures in urban environments, even delicate structures and contrasts in the subject are preserved and no longer "tear out". Due to the extensive filtering of the warmer light components, your shots will basically turn out a bit cooler, so always perform a manual white balance and select a color temperature between +700 K and +1,500 K of the spectrum without using a filter to ensure the color authenticity of your images.

Best optical glass, double-sided nano-coating
To ensure that you can use your Rollei Astroklar filter even for demanding projects and in adverse weather conditions, the high-quality optical glass has been coated on both sides with a special nano-coating. This additional protective coating not only reliably prevents reflections caused by uncontrollable light sources, which are particularly annoying during night photography, but also has a strong water-, oil- and dirt-repellent effect. Cleaning your Astroklar rectangular filter thus becomes - if at all necessary - child's play. The light transmission when using the Astroklar filter is reduced by a 2/3 stop or f-stop. Generally, we recommend the use of a tripod and/or a remote release, not only when combining with other filters such as gray filters, polarizing filters and gray graduated filters in the filter holder.
