Versatile premium telephoto zoom lens with high aperture
The HD PENTAX-D FA* 70 - 200 mm F/2.8 ED DC AW is just as universally applicable on KB full-frame cameras as it is on the current APS-C cameras of the PENTAX K series with a corresponding focal length of 107 to 307 mm. This focal length range and the large aperture are equally convincing for portrait and action photographers. Premium Lens are marked with a * in the PENTAX system. With an aperture of F/2.8 over the entire zoom range, this Lens offers the best conditions for working with different levels of sharpness, e.g. for portrait shots. At the same time, the high light intensity together with the high imaging performance also enables slower shutter speeds, e.g. for freezing action scenes.

Complex lens construction for perfect image quality
The lens construction is decisive for a particularly sophisticated image quality.
For example, two ED elements (Extra-low Dispersion), two Super ED elements and four Super-low Dispersion elements ensure effective compensation of chromatic aberrations over the entire zoom range. This guarantees clear, brilliant image results and sharpness right into the corners. In addition, rounded aperture blades in the lens ensure a natural and beautiful bokeh, which is particularly important for portrait shots.

Innovative multi-layer coatings for excellent light transmission
The cutting-edge technology of this premium lens is already evident in the individual lenses.
All lens elements are coated with the new multi-layer HD (High Definition) coating and the lens surfaces are coated with the new "Aero Bright Coating II". This multi-layer lens treatment based on nanotechnology reduces reflections by an additional 50% compared to conventional coatings. This achieves maximum contrast and sharpness without stray light and ghost images.
The front lens is also equipped with an SP (Super Protect) coating, which protects its surface from soiling.

Weatherproof construction
The particularly weather-resistant construction of this AW (All Weather) series Lens features 13 special seals that effectively prevent the ingress of moisture and dust and thus offer optimum protection against rain, splash water or spray mist, for example. In combination with the weatherproof bodies of the current PENTAX K-series SLR cameras, use in even the most difficult environmental conditions is no problem.

Fast and quiet autofocus drive with new Quickshift function
The HD PENTAX-D FA* 70 - 200 mm F/2.8 ED DC AW rotary zoom lens has a particularly quiet, fast and reliable DC autofocus motor. The new integrated Quickshift function simplifies focusing and offers even more creative freedom. The previous quickshift function with autofocus priority (QF S/A), which only allows manual correction after focusing, has been expanded to include the quickshift function with manual focus priority (QF S/M), which allows intervention in automatic focusing at any time. However, the autofocus can also be switched off completely.
The focus range can also be limited using an additional switch on the Lens.
In addition to the entire focus range, the AF range can be switched between 1.2 m to 4 m and 4 m to infinity.

Practical handling
A newly designed tripod adapter allows the camera to be quickly switched between portrait and landscape format and enables balanced, stable mounting on a tripod. If required, the tripod adapter can also be easily removed.
