Super light and compact - not attributes we normally associate with super-telephoto zoom lenses, but they apply to the Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM. At just 635g and just over 16cm long, it's the perfect companion for wildlife and sports enthusiasts looking for an affordable alternative.

Powerful autofocus of the Canon RF 100-400mm

The Canon RF 100-400mm has a Nano USM motor, which makes for quiet, fast and smooth autofocus. Reliable autofocus is essential, especially in wildlife and sports photography, but also in other applications where subjects move quickly and unpredictably.

Razor-sharp photos

The Canon 100-400mm is also impressive when it comes to image quality. Even without a tripod, the Lens always achieves razor-sharp photos with its Optical Image Stabilizer for 5.5 exposure stops, UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) glass and high-quality Super Spectra coating. Even steady handheld video recording is possible without any problems. A great advantage if you don't always want to carry a tripod with you!

Attractive bokeh

The aperture consists of 9 rounded aperture blades. Although the f/5.6-8 aperture is relatively a bit slower, the 9 rounded aperture blades still create a nice and even bokeh, and not just for close subjects.

Close focus distance of the 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM

The Canon RF 100-400mm is even suitable for macro photography thanks to its outstanding closest focusing distance of 88cm and a reproduction scale of 1:2.4.

Lightweight and practical: Canon RF 100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM

In terms of size and weight, the Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 stands out, as it is significantly smaller and lighter than conventional super-telezoom lenses. Especially when shooting without a tripod, it's advantageous to have the Lens connected to the camera body, well balanced, and not tilting forward.

Other features of the Canon super telephoto lens

The Lens is compatible with Canon RF extenders (1.4x and 2x). It offers an AF-MF and an image stabilizer switch, as well as a separate zoom, focus and control ring, all of which are very easy to grip. A lens hood is not included in the scope of delivery. Another special feature is that this super telephoto lens has a 67mm filter thread.

Exzellentes Zoom und preiswert
Prima Zoom-Objektiv, sehr scharf zeichnend frei aus der Hand bei 400mm, Für die Qualität und den Preis unschlagbar. Leider muss ich aber die Qualitätskontrolle von Canon kritisieren. Das erste Zoom hat scharf abgebildet, hatte aber Schmutzpartikel unter der Vorderlinse, also zurückgegeben. Das zweite und dritte Zoom haben zu 80% Schrott-Fotos mit totaler Unschärfe produziert, also zurückgegeben. Erst das letzte Zoom von Foto-Koch war perfekt. Dann will Canon 62€ für eine Sonnenblende, das sind 10% des Objektivpreises!!!! Man kann sie aber für etwa 19€ als freie Marke erwerben. Bin jetzt total zufrieden und fasziniert von diesem Objektiv. Absolute Kaufempfehlung!

Schön-Wetter Objektiv
Canon RF 5,6-8 100-400 mm ist ganz klar ein Schönwetter-Objektiv. Das sollte einen vorher klar sein. Ansonsten eine klare Empfehlung vom Preis-Leistungsverhätnis un vom Gewicht zum Vergleich der L-Linse. Die fehlende Gegenlichtblende kann teils, teils entschuldigen, es gibt ja preiswerten Ersatz zu kaufen.
