New Cinema products:
EOSC300 Mark III with innovative DGO sensor and compact cine servo lens CN10X25 IAS S
Underlining its commitment to professional film production, Canon presents two new products to meet increasingly diverse production needs: the EOS C300 Mark III and the CN10X25 IAS S. The EOS C300 Mark III is the next generation of Cinema EOS cameras with a new Super 35mm 4K CMOS DGO (Dual Gain Output) sensor in a modular design and the ability to record in multiple formats. The CN10X25 IAS S is a versatile, 8K-capable 25-250mm cine servo Lens with 10x power zoom and exceptionally wide focal length range, which can be extended to 375mm with the integrated 1.5x optical extender. In addition, new firmware updates have been announced for professional monitors and cameras in the Cinema EOS system, improving functionality, compatibility and workflows.
Further product features:
New EOS C300 Mark III based on EOS C500 Mark II
New, innovative DGO sensor in the EOS C300 Mark III
Higher dynamic range of more than 16 stops
New 4K and 8K-capable, versatile CN10X25 IAS S for broadcast and cinema (optional)
New firmware updates for Cinema EOS System monitors and cameras
EOS C300 Mark III - the right answer to industry demands
The EOS C300 Mark III builds on the successful EOS C300 Mark II from 2015 and exemplifies Canon's innovations in the field of professional film production. It features a new DGO sensor that enables HDR shooting with more than 16 stops of dynamic range, a configurable design - similar to the EOS C500 Mark II introduced last year - and the ability to record in 4K at up to 120 frames per second in Cinema RAW Light or XF-AVCi. This makes the camera suitable for a wide range of production environments - especially demanding documentary, advertising and corporate videos. Together with the new CN10X25 IAS S, this is Canon's direct response to the industry's growing demand for a wide range of high-end content in all genres.
Exceptional HDR with new DGO sensor
Canon is debuting a new DGO sensor with the EOS C300 Mark III. This newly developed image recording system offers high-quality images even in low light and also delivers excellent HDR results.
On the DGO sensor, each pixel reads the image with two different gain values, which are then combined to form a single image. The higher gain readout has a low-noise priority gain to capture clean details in dark areas. The lower gain readout has saturation priority gain to capture the details in brighter areas. Therefore, when combining both signals, detail and quality are maintained and optimized in both particularly bright and dark areas of the image. As a result, the camera achieves an impressively high dynamic range of more than 16 f-stops. In addition, the DGO sensor is also compatible with Dual Pixel CMOS AF, offering professionals the greatest possible creative possibilities.
In-camera Electronic IS
The EOS C300 Mark III offers internal electronic image stabilization (Electronic IS), which provides 5-axis compensation for camera shake. Even when using Lens without electronic communication to the camera, Electronic IS can be used by manually entering the focal length.
Groundbreaking autofocus technology*
The EOS C300 Mark III offers Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, which provides fast continuous AF. Users also benefit from smooth, intuitive touch-focus operation via the 4.3-inch LM-V2 LCD screen, as well as improved focusing that enables even more natural pull-focus effects.
To fine-tune AF, the EOS C300 Mark III offers the possibility to adjust AF tracking speed and AF sensitivity.
* With compatible Lens
A workflow for every production
The EOS C300 Mark III's ability to record in various file formats opens up a particularly efficient workflow that meets the requirements of cinema and broadcast post-production. The internal recording of 4K Cinema RAW Light opens up all the advantages of the RAW format for flexibility in post-production while keeping data volumes low - reducing the costs that can come with large amounts of data. In addition, the EOS C300 Mark III can record internally in Canon XF-AVC with 4K DCI and UHD with 4:2:2 10-bit as well as 2K and Full HD. For non-RAW recording in XF-AVC, professionals can select ALL-I or Long-GOP to shoot at high compression, enabling efficient workflow and longer recording times. When recording 2K or Full HD in Super 35mm, the recorded material benefits from the oversampling of the 4K sensor. The footage is downsampled internally to record the material at the resolution selected by the user. This results in higher image quality and the same angle of view of the selected Lens, as it is possible to record without cropping.
Core feature: versatility
Professionals can also use one of the two optional extension units (EU-V1 and EU-V2) on the camera - both add additional connections to the camera body and expand compatibility for different shooting styles. In addition, the lens bayonet can be changed between EF, PL and EF with Cinema Lock without having to send the camera to an authorized service center.
